Watermark Consultants is a civil engineering consulting firm specialized in waterfront developments, marinas, earthworks, site engineering, piers, ports, and complex coastal projects. The firm provides planning, site studies, design, and implementation support.

With more than 20 years of experience, Watermark Consultants has contributed to projects in Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Mexico, Belize, the United States, and Europe. Its portfolio includes marinas, ports, breakwaters, coastal structures, land developments, and other complex infrastructure projects.

The firm uses advanced numerical modeling tools to design projects in complex coastal environments. These models evaluate waves, winds, water levels, currents, and geotechnical conditions to understand each site and develop solutions that are technically sound, environmentally responsible, and economically feasible.

Mauricio Wesson, MSc, P.E.

Mauricio Wesson is a civil engineer specialized in ocean, coastal, and site engineering. He has more than 15 years of registered professional experience and is licensed as a professional engineer in Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, and Costa Rica.

His experience includes coastal studies, numerical and physical modeling, detailed design of ports, marinas, breakwaters, and complex coastal structures. He has also served as Construction Supervision Director for major projects, including Marina Ayia Napa.

Mauricio has published in several technical conferences and invented a wave energy absorbing block wall that has been implemented and constructed. He earned his civil engineering degree from the University of Costa Rica, studied Planning and Design of Coastal Structures in Hyogo, Japan, obtained a Master of Science from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and carried out doctoral studies in Braunschweig, Germany.

Alfredo Wesson is a civil engineer with more than 38 years of professional experience in port engineering, transportation, coastal engineering, and construction.

He served as Ports and Rivers Director for the Ministry of Public Works for more than 15 years and was a professor at the Civil Engineering School of the University of Costa Rica.

Alfredo holds a Master of Science from MIT and studied port engineering in Japan and Belgium. He has directed several major projects, including Los Sueños Marina and Land Development, Papagayo Marina, Moín Terminal, and the Puntarenas Cruise Ship Pier.

His experience includes project feasibility, site studies, design, and construction direction.
